* at 821 am EDT Thursday river levels continue to fall and many
small rivers in eastern Massachusetts have fallen into minor flood.
The exceptions are the Taunton river in Bridgewater which has
lowered from major flood into now moderate flood... and the Ipswich
river in Ipswich remains in moderate flood. Both of these rivers
continue to fall slowly but will likely remain in moderate flood
into at least Friday.

Rivers in minor flood include

The Parker river in Byfield
the Ipswich river in South Middleton
the Charles River in Waltham
the Nashua River in Clinton
the monatiquot river in East Braintree
the Jones river in Kingston
the Mill River in Taunton

The Jones river in Kingston and the Nashua River in Clinton should
fall below flood stage some time this afternoon. The monatiquot
river in East Braintree should fall below flood stage some time this
afternoon or evening.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway... including underpasses. The water may be too deep to allow
vehicles to cross safely... or the roadway may be undermined.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. If you
are in the warning area move to higher ground immediately. Residents
living near streams and creeks should take immediate action to
protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross flooded areas by
foot or in your vehicle.
